This year women and families have been hit especially hard by Covid-19 and everything that came with it and many have found themselves jobless, homeless and often trapped in dangerous and horrible situations.
Christmas can be an especially difficult time for people who are already struggling so Star 101.9 and Mackay Women's Services are asking the community to band together and help out these struggling families by submitting hampers of food and Christmas goodies.
These hampers will go towards helping families who rely on the Mackay Women's Centre, Domestic Violence Resource Service and Mackay Women’s Sexual Assault Service.
Sam & Rach caught up with Julie from Mackay Women's Services to hear about how serious things have gotten:
To contribute, simply put together a hamper of goodies and Christmas cheer and drop it off at the Mackay Women's Centre at 418A Shakespeare St, West Mackay QLD 4740 before December 11th.
Wondering what to include? Well as well as putting in some Christmas bon bons, Santa hats, toys for kids and/or a little gift for the mothers, here's a list of the sorts of food and gifts you can include:
Biscuits (sweet and savoury)
Gift for the mum
