Iconic rocker Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame has been memorialised in the form of a Barbie doll. The doll, a creation of toy company Mattel, draws inspiration from Nicks’ unforgettable presence on Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album cover from 1977. Dressed in the unforgettable “Rhiannon” ensemble – named after the well-known song from the band’s 1975 album – the doll is a true depiction of the legendary singer.
Nicks couldn’t hide her joy when she shared on social media, “When I gaze at her, my 27-year-old self comes to mind. Recollections of stepping onto a grand stage in that stunning black outfit and those fabulous boots are revived. But then, I see my current self in her visage. Our shared experiences since 1975, the challenges we’ve tackled, the wisdom we’ve gained – we’ve done it together. I am reflected in her and she in me. She has captivated my heart.”
The much-awaited “Stevie Barbie” will be released on November 10th, and its demand is soaring, with the doll already out of stock. However, the singer reassures fans that more dolls are on the way, as this project has been in progress for quite some time.
During a concert at Madison Square Garden, Nicks showcased the doll, much to the delight of her audience. Videos of the moment flooded social media, showing the singer proudly displaying the doll’s meticulous detailing, particularly her “impressive boots.”
In a bid for genuine representation, Nicks provided Mattel with the original dress and boots she sported on the “Rumours” cover. Designer Bill Greening elaborates, “Stevie appears poised to soar into the skies, much like the bird in flight in the hit song Rhiannon, thanks to her statement chiffon sleeves.”
The alluring Stevie Barbie is finished off with Nicks’ signature golden moon pendant, tall black boots, and a ribbon-draped tambourine. The doll now joins the lineup of other musical legends who have been commemorated by Mattel, including Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Elton John, and Tina Turner.
