Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan made a special visit to Sesame Street, bringing with him a touching new song aimed at helping children navigate their emotions through the power of music.
In the clip, Elmo, Big Bird, and Rosita welcome their new friend Noah, who introduces a catchy tune about how music can turn big feelings around. The moment kicks off when Rosita accidentally drops her ice cream on her shoe, leaving her feeling upset.
“Noah was just showing us how music makes him happy,” Big Bird explains, as the “Stick Season” singer chimes in: “In fact, music can help when you’re feeling all kinds of feelings.”
Noah then launches into the uplifting song, which shares how music can be a source of comfort during tough moments. “’Stead of pouting or shouting, I’ve got another way / When I sing a happy song, the sadness fades away…” he sings.
The lyrics explore how music can brighten even the hardest days—whether it’s from a broken toy truck or an ice cream mishap. “Music, music, happy music helps when I feel sad / When I sing a happy song, pretty soon the smile’s back / When my heart aches, when my toy breaks / Or my ice cream’s on my shoe / Music’s gonna see me through,” the song continues.
The Sesame Street crew is all smiles as the song hits home. Later, Noah returns to the famous Sesame Street stoop for a jam session, strumming his acoustic guitar alongside Rosita, who is also playing guitar, and Big Bird, who joins in with a tambourine.
“Yeah! Mr. Noah is right, music can help with all kinds of feelings,” Elmo says as the video concludes.
