Glass Bridge Breaks and Leaves Tourist Trapped 100 Metres in the Air

A tourist was left stranded on a glass-bottomed bridge in China after strong winds damaged the structure.

The 100-meter tall bridge located in China's Jilin Province was broken when gusts of up to 150km per hour blew off pieces of the glass deck.

Firefighters and police were called to the scene and the tourist managed to successfully crawl to safety and has since been treated in hospital for psychological counseling.

Terrifying images of the man clinging to the bridge were captured and shared online. Fortunately no one else was injured.

Chinese state media have reported the resort where the bridge is located has been closed for investigation.

Glass-bottomed bridges are a popular tourist attraction in China and there are now public concerns to avoid a similar incident occurring. The most famous glass bridge is at Zhangjiajie, in Hunan, measuring 430 metres long, six metres wide and 300 metres above the ground.
