Segeyaro starts Broncos NRL stint
Brisbane recruit James Segeyaro is training with his new NRL club following his mid-season switch from Cronulla.
The hooker joined the Broncos on a deal until the end of the season and is aiming to fill the void left by injured No.9 Andrew McCullough.
Queensland State of Origin rake McCullough is sidelined for at least six weeks after damaging his medial collateral ligament in training last week.
Segeyaro has moved to Brisbane after being deemed surplus to requirements by the Sharks due to their salary cap issues.
Jake Turpin played in McCullough's place for last Friday's win over Manly but faces a battle to keep his spot ahead of the experienced 28-year-old for this week's clash with Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.
"The Broncos are a proud club and I am focused on working hard now to gain an opportunity," Segeyaro told the club's website.
Five-eighth Anthony Milford, who starred for the Broncos in the 26-10 Magic Round win over the Sea Eagles, didn't train on Monday due to illness.
Centre Jack Bird is set to undergo surgery this week after suffering a season-ending ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury against the Sea Eagles.
