Two serious power line incidents sparks warning from Ergon
Two serious incidents on the electricity network around Mackay has sparked a fresh warning from Ergon Energy.
A grader hit a power pole at Oakenden last week, causing a power outage to 405 people.
A slasher hit a stay wire within the same hour, causing an outage across parts of Glenella, Nindaroo, Richmond and Rural View.
Emma Oliveri from Ergon Energy says both incidents bought down power lines.
"We're reminding everybody if you are driving a heavy vehicle, or using machinery around overhead power lines - please look up and live," Ms Oliveri says.
"For your own safety and everybody else's.
"These incidents cause unplanned outages for the community, they do damage to the network, but more importantly they put lives at risk."
