Investigations continue into an alleged assault, where a hairdresser was inappropriately touched in Mackay.

It's understood a man went into a hair salon at a Mackay shopping centre requesting a hair treatment around 4.45pm on March 25.

A spokesperson for Queensland Police Service says while his hair was being washed, he allegedly touched a female hairdresser on the leg.

"The man was immediately asked to leave the salon," the spokesperson says.

"He is described as aged in his mid to late 20s with a distinctive tattoo on his neck of a triangle with an eye in the centre and brickwork.

"He was wearing a cream-coloured t-shirt and has a sandy blonde mullet with shaved sides."

Authorities are appealing for information to help identify a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.
