Mackay drug trafficking syndicate dismantled, 17 arrested and charged

A drug trafficking syndicate with links to the Mongrel Mob chapter in Mackay has been dismantled by detectives in two major drug operations dating back to 2020.

Police have conducted multiple arrests across Mackay, the Whitsundays and South East Queensland - 17 have been charged with various drug trafficking, organised crime, weapon and criminal offences.

An amount of drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, LSD, cannabis, fentanyl, steroids, a modified firearm, knuckle dusters and various drug paraphernalia have also been seized.

Body camera footage shows officers executing a warrant at a home in Blacks Beach on Wednesday, breaking down a door to get inside.

A 30-year-old Blacks Beach man has been arrested and charged with 19 offences including ten counts of supplying dangerous drugs and three counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

At the house, detectives also seized a Harley Davidson motorcycle, three cars, a boat, $27,000 cash, a vest, and assorted paraphernalia as alleged assets and proceeds of crime.

Detectives say they are confident they have disrupted organised crime and the flow of drug supply within Mackay and Whitsundays as a result of the operations, and will continue to target serious crime.
