Backburning at the Whitsundays
Backburning will take place at the Whitsundays and Molle Islands National Park over the weekend.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) has scheduled the planned burn on North Molle, Teague and Cid Islands between June 12 and June 26.
The aim of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and help reduce the intensity of any bushfires.
As a result, smoke may be seen in the Whitsunday and Molle Islands group area.
QPWS is reminding residents to smoke can decrease visibility on the roads and motorists should drive safely to the conditions.
