Major Drug And Weapons Charges, Nebo

A motorist faces charges after he was pulled over by Police in Nebo.  

The 23-year-old man was intercepted on Braeside Road on Wednesday evening.  

Following an interaction with police, the driver was arrested and multiple items have been seized by police as a result including 45 grams of methamphetamine, 22 grams of MDMA and $3,000 in cash.

The driver has been charged with a total of 31 charges, including 14 counts of supplying a dangerous drug, two counts of trafficking, two counts of unlawfully possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of unlawful possession of a thing used in a drug offence, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing drug proceeds, possessing drug utensils, possessing tainted property, possessing false registration plates and unlicensed driving, unlawful possession of a category A weapon (rifle) and unlawful possession of explosives (ammunition).

The 23-year-old man will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court later today to have the matters heard.

Plain Clothes Constable Heyworth of the Moranbah Criminal Investigation Branch said that Mackay police take a hard line stance on all gun and drug crimes in the district.

“Offences of this nature will always be investigated seriously and offenders will be put before the courts without delay.” Plain Clothes Constable Heyworth said.
