Severe thunderstorms are developing about the Central West and Central Highlands and Coalfields.
A surface trough lies across inland Queensland and will combine with an upper trough to enhance thunderstorm development this afternoon and evening.
Thunderstorms are developing about the northern parts of the Central West and the Central Highlands and Coalfields districts and are moving east southeast at about 35km/h.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Clermont, Moranbah, Capella and Elgin Downs.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
