The Member for Dawson is pushing for Bruce Highway upgrades to pick up around Bowen.
Reduced speed zones, signs and bollards have been in place for months, but Andrew Willcox claims little progress is being made.
The contractor for the upgrades went into voluntary administration in February and a replacement is yet to take over.
Mr Willcox has sent a letter to Queensland’s Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey.
“People are getting quite frustrated with it. There’s been nothing happening from February,” Mr Willcox says.
“On the TMR website it’s still saying that this project will be finished by the end of the year, but I just can’t see how that’s happening.”
The MP says the works also pose a safety risk.
“There is still areas where they’ve edged out one side of the road and the only difference between where you’re driving and then the bollard … there’s about a 3 foot gap, a 3 foot drop,” he says.
A Transport and Main Roads spokesperon says a plan has been developed to deliver the remaining works and procurement for new contractors is underway.
“Timelines for delivery will be determined following award of contracts,” they say.
“The affected project sites are being maintained in a safe condition by our routine maintenance contractor until works restart.”
