A reminder for Mackay and Whitsunday boaties heading north or south of our region in the coming weeks.
A marine exclusion zone has been established off Kings Beach in Bowen until August 19 as part of a military training exercise.
The closed area (pictured) will be used by military vessels, aircraft and personnel from the US and Australia during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2023.
Boaties and other recreational water users are requested to avoid the area, which stretches approximately three nautical miles off the coast of Kings Beach, near McCanes Bay, at Bowen.
Further disruptions are expected south of the region around the Shoalwater Bay area near Yeppoon.
Police strongly recommend visiting the Maritime Safety QLD website before your journey to determine if there are any restrictions or closed areas.
