“The Whitsundays Sailing Club is renowned for its vibrant sailing community and stunning waterfront
views in Sunny Far North Queensland,” Andrew Willcox said.

“The club hosts various events throughout the year, fostering an inclusive welcoming environment for
members and guests, but it is in desperate need of a walkway and pontoon to allow the expanding
club to continue to service the region well into the future,” he said.

“This $500,000 commitment from the LNP will allow tenders to come in and tie up, so they can access
shopping and activities on the mainland. The Pontoon will allow all ability sailors to access their
sailing boats so they can enjoy their time on the water.

“The LNP backs regional Queensland, and I am determined to get our fair share of funding for projects
like this one at Whitsunday Sailing Club.”

Whitsunday Sailing Club President, Terry Archer said the timing of the funding commitment was perfect following the Olympic sailing announcement last month.

“I would like to thank Mr Willcox and the LNP for backing our regional sailing. This will not only benefit
the Whitsunday Sailing Club but the community as well.”
