Busy year for CQ Rescue chopper

BMA CQ Rescue has carried out more than 720 missions in 2024, helping save lives across Central and North Queensland.

It included inter-hospital transfers, emergency responses, search and rescue operations, and more.

259 flights occurred within the Mackay Regional Council Area, 181 flights to the Issac Region and 264 times in the sky above the Whitsundays Regional Council area.

11 missions were to seven different mine sites, 6 missions to five cattle properties, and 54 missions to the islands, reefs and bays, proving the service’s importance in our region.

Bowen was the most frequently visited location in 2024, with 82 flights flown to assist the community.

Cardiac emergencies remained the most common reason for flying.
