A man has been arrested following two suspicious fires in North Mackay.
Just before 11pm Sunday – a car was destroyed by a fire on Palmer Street – before a nearby unit was set alight around 30 minutes later.
The unit was unoccupied at the time and sustained significant fire damage.

Initial investigations indicate the fires are linked – with police arresting a 40-year-old man nearby.
He is assisting police with enquiries as investigations continue.
Anyone with information or relevant footage in the vicinity of Palmer Street is urged to contact Police.
