The Solar Care CITYRUN is a series of running events being held simultaneously across regional Queensland with the core objective to raise much needed funds for the Run for the Reef Great Barrier Reef Research Fund. In a bid to preserve and protect Australia's greatest national treasure, the regional cities of Cairns, Mackay and Townsville will be competing City vs City on September 15, 2017.
Offering three different distances of a 2.5km looped course, all runners in each event will not only timed individually at their location, but their finishing time will be aggregated across all three participating cities. Therefore, you can be racing in Cairns against your mate in Townsville or Mackay!
Olympic legends Steve Moneghetti (Cairns), Benita Willis (Mackay) and Jess Trengove(Townsville) are taking on the challenge to get their respective cities across the line, to be crowned Solar Care CITYRUN Inaugural Champions 2017.
RUN FOR THE REEF:
The Solar Care CITYRUN proudly supports the Mega Mouth Project via the Run for the Reef Research Fund. The event donates 20% of all registrations to the Research Fund and participants are encouraged to get involved and raise additional funds through Everyday Hero. Amazing prizes will be presented for the highest fundraiser in each City with a mega prize for the overall highest fundraiser.
