Man charged after alleged Whitsundays break ins

A 52-year-old Brisbane man has been charged, accused of breaking into two Whitsundays businesses.

Detectives charged the man with four counts of enter premise and commit and one count of wilful damage.

He’s accused of entering a Shute Harbour Road hotel at Airlie Beach before midnight on April 6- damaging a safe and stealing property from a parked car.

The next day at around 2pm, police say he entered a Galbraith Park Drive business at Cannonvale and accessed a safe, stealing cash

He hasn’t entered a plea to any charges at this stage, facing court in Townsville last week.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear on May 27.

Police are continuing investigations, with businesses in the area who may have been targeted urged to contact them.
