A major discovery in the investigation into the murder of a 34-year-old Mackay mum.
Detectives believe they have found the weapon used in the shooting death of Natalie Frahm while searching the home of the alleged gunman, 31-year-old Ryan Cole.
Ms Frahm was shot in the head and chest in front of two young girls about 4.30pm June 19 as she sat in her car in her driveway on Robb Place.
The two girls were able to run and get help from 66-year-old James McGill who was nearby visiting his 89-year-old mother’s home at the time.
Mr McGill was also shot in the chest and was taken to hospital in a serious condition where he remains recovering.
Police have since removed three firearms from Cole’s Robb Place house over the weekend, including a .22 pistol alleged to be the murder weapon.
Detective Acting Superintendent Emma Novosel Novosel said police made the determination after speaking with Mr McGill, other eyewitnesses and forensic experts.
“None of the weapons located at that residence are currently nor have they been previously registered,” Superintendent Novosel said.
Police believe that they have located all of Coles’ firearms, however they will continue investigations into how Cole was able to obtain the weapons after having his firearms license revoked in 2021.
